Soup Kitchen Update and request: The Soup Kitchen is temporarily located at the Sagitawa Friendship Center. In the flood, they lost most of their supplies and are looking for help in replenishing their supplies. For those who wish to donate, the following supplies needed are: coffee, coffee cream/sugar (powder or cubes), stir sticks, cookies/granola bars, paper products (cups, bowls, plates, napkins, utensils), soup crackers, juice mix (powdered), salt and pepper. Please let Rose Gish or Wanda Laurin know if you have supplies to donate.

 

Help Wanted in the church office: We are looking for someone to fill the position of Parish Administrator. If you are interested or know someone who is, please contact Iain. Meanwhile, temporary help is needed in the office

 

There are copies of the list of prayer items for the Diocese of Ibba on the bulletin board outside the church office. Feel free to take them to use in your prayers during the week.

 

Finding Joy in Unexpected Places: The annual ACW conference will take place this year from May 2-4 at Christ Church Anglican in Grande Prairie. Registrations forms and information are available at the greeter’s table and on the bulletin board outside of the parish office. All Anglican church women are welcome to attend!

Canadian Badlands Passion Play tickets — save 10% in March on tickets and $5 from each ticket will be donated to help a school in Nicaragua. Use “Gift 2014” when booking.

 

Our diocesan website has been completely rebuilt—go to dioath.ca to check it out. There is also a Lent letter from the bishop posted on the notice boards, with printed copies at the greeters’ table if you would like to take one home.

 

In light of a recent theft from the Fireside Room, we are asking everyone to be especially vigilant about ensuring that doors are locked when you leave the church. Please only leave a door unlocked when you are in that part of the building.

Save the date May 6-8 for a conference in Edmonton: “Becoming a Missional Church / Becoming a Missional Leader: How to equip your congregation to reach a changing world”, led by Alan Roxburgh, the speaker for our diocesan conference in Peace River in 2010. If you are interested and think you might be able to attend, please speak to Iain.

Services at Sutherland Nursing Home—Every Tuesday @ 10 a.m. Lead by Dean Luke and volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry please contact the Dean

 

Can you give about one Sunday morning a month to work with our Sunday School children? If so, please speak to Victoria who will be coordinating this min-istry. The program starts Sept 15.

 

The AWANA program at First Baptist Church Thursday at 6:30pm, for children age 3 up to Grade 6. Registration is $35. please contact the church if interested.

Wanda Laurin is offering to collect and sort bottles on an ongoing basis

with proceeds to go to the roof restoration project. Wanda will pick up

your bottles (phone her with your address, 624-2751) OR you can drop

them at her house (7418 98A street in the back alley parking area) OR you

can take them to the bottle depot and designate that they are for St. James

(this is the least profitable option, as the bottle depot will take a percentage

for sorting)
