**An update from our Partner Diocese of Ibba, South Sudan**


 St. James' is happy to announce that The Very Rev. Jason Haggstrom has accepted the position as Dean!!!




Road Trip-The St. James Road Trip with be August 26th, it will leave the Lower hall at 9a.m. and will return around 8p.m. The cost for the trip is $20. It is optional if you would like to check out the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum at a cost of $11 per adult, $7 per Seniors and $5 per student. This is what you will need to bring, money for snacks and coffee, bagged lunch and a lawn chair if you have one. The supper will be provided on this trip.  Youth Daze 2017

This years Youth Daze will be held September 1-3, for age 12-20 at the Teen Time Camp near Dapp, AB. Registration is $100 and the deadline to register is August 15th, registration forms are available at http// .










Opportunities to Serve

  • Food Bank-St. James collects items for the food bank throughout the month to be delivered after the third Sunday of the month. The food bank is in need of: beans/baked beans, peanut butter, canned fruit/apple sauce, canned meat, cereal, pasta/rice, and cookie items. If you could help with deliveries, please talk to Kathy Budd.

There are copies of the list of prayer items for the Diocese of Ibba on the bulletin board outside the church office. Feel free to take them to use in your prayers during the week.


Our diocesan website

has been completely rebuilt—go to to check it out. There is also a Lent letter from the bishop posted on the notice boards, with printed copies at the greeters’ table if you would like to take one home.


In light of a recent theft from the Fireside Room

we are asking everyone to be especially vigilant about ensuring that doors are locked when you leave the church. Please only leave a door unlocked when you are in that part of the building.

Services at Sutherland Nursing Home

Every Tuesday @ 10 a.m. Lead by Dean Luke and volunteers. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry please contact the Dean


Can you give about one Sunday morning a month to work with our Sunday School children? If so, please speak to Victoria who will be coordinating this ministry. The program starts Sept 15.

Wanda Laurin is offering to collect and sort bottles on an ongoing basis

with proceeds to go to the roof restoration project. Wanda will pick up

your bottles (phone her with your address, 624-2751) OR you can drop

them at her house (7418 98A street in the back alley parking area) OR you

can take them to the bottle depot and designate that they are for St. James

(this is the least profitable option, as the bottle depot will take a percentage 

for sorting)
